I subscribe to Jam Jar News via their facebook page and got this little ditty, a Google Street View link/picture, this morning.

Google Street View, in their attempts to map and picture the world caught this Jaguar D-type driving the Viale della Bornata, Brescia, Lombardy, Italy.

Could I find out more of this car and its drivers?

Yes I could!

The car, driven by Gary Bartlett and Kathryn Meade, was participating in the Mille Miglia in mid May 2009.

The car recording the Google Street View traveled east from Via Antonio Vivaldi along Viale della Bornata, continuing along Viale Sant’Eufemia to Via Cerca, where I got off. This route crosses the Museo Mille Miglia.

The above Google Street View will get you to the area and you can street view from there. The pictures below are some of the images as I traveled from west to east.

The scene in front of the Museo Mille Miglia. I am guessing the Google Street View recording was done just as the Mille Miglia was completing.

This is east of the Museo Mille Miglia along Viale Sant’Eufemia. I had to work my way through the fuzz of this picture and other comparison pictures on line to come up with who’s in the lead. In front is Car 18, a 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Super Sport driven by Mirko Farina and Massimo Capozio. The yellow car in the centre was easier to identify as Car 19, a 1925 Bugatti Type 35 A, driven by Giulio Felloni, and Riccardo Felloni. The last car is no. 20, a 1926 Bugatti Type 35 A, driven by Carlos Sielecki and Juan Hervas.

Here, Car 21, a 1925 BUGATTI Type 35 driven by Giacomo Foglia and Timm Bergold is passing the Google street view car. Coming from the other direction, east, is car 240, a 1954 Austin Healey 100 BN1, driven by Tiberio Cavalleri and Carlo Cavalleri.

The Bugatti completes his pass as Lancia, which I cannot identify, comes the other way. The cars then continue along Viale Sant’Eufemia.

I could not have pulled this all together without the Picasa and Flickr sites set up by Brian of Classic Car Tours International, Carlo Roma, and Bernhard Egger. The Mille Miglia website helped me get back on track and names of who’s who.
